Members of the PUP and ‘Ulster’s Forgotten Military Veterans’ staged an all-night sleep out outside the Housing Executive office on Carrickfergus High Street to raise awareness of issues, including needing homes, facing ex-service personnel in Northern Ireland.

Friday night’s event, according to the organisers, was the first in a wave of action to be held across the country in a campaign to have the Armed Forces Covenant implemented in Northern Ireland.

The covenant states the military community should not face disadvantage compared to other citizens in the provision of public and commercial services and that special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially with regard to the injured and bereaved. INCT 36-121-GR
