'Heartbroken at result'
FROM: Disappointed.
I am writing to you today in outrage about the great show I have been to watch over the past three weeks in St Anthony’s Hall.
May I first of all congratulate all those who took part in the two semi-finals and the final last Sunday night.
On Sunday night people queued outside for an hour before the doors opened to get in and see the show, with at least 100 being turned away.
I went to both semi-finals and the final along with my wife and son and I think every one of the acts on stage were winners.
In the semi-finals a young boy by the name of Peter Close stole the first show with his version of Amy Winehouse’s Valerie.
Told by the judges on the night, that he had a great chance in the final, then we had Ryan McNally who did a great version of you Raised Me Up, and Rebecca Lenaghan winner of Stars in Their Eyes last years who did Man I feel Like a Woman.
We also had nine-year-old Callum Donnelly who did a winning version of Michael Jackson's Billy Jean and he had the crowd on their feet.
And there was Courtney Morgan who along with her father, brother and mother did a version of Riverdance that was fantastic.
But then came a young dance team that go under the name of KT Max, the dance teacher is 16-year-old Kerri Turley, in the semi-final they were told by the judges that they are Craigavon’s answer to Diversity the winner of Britain’s Got Talent.
One of the judges told them on the night of the semi-final that these 11 young girls had a team good enough to win Britain’s Got Talent never mind Craigavon’s Got Talent.
The dancing judge on the night only gave them ten out of ten for their hip-hop dance, only ten out of ten.
So why is it when a judge gives you great marks and tells you hip-hop is one of the hardest things to do and said that the choreography was first class; why were these eleven young girls left in tears at the end of the night?
Maybe it was because they were not good enough, I don’t think so maybe it was, because they made a mistake on the night, let's not forget ten out of ten, maybe it was because the choreography was rubbish, no it was, don’t forget, first class.
And why was it at the end of the night that the crowd in St Anthony’s Hall booed the judges decision, questions were asked at the end of the night as to why this great young dance team was not even in the top seven.
So if your child has got a talent and is good enough to win a competition don’t send them to a show called Craigavon’s Got Talent , unless you want to be heart broken.
Well let me finish off by saying girls you might not have won any silverwear but you did win the hearts of those in the hall well done and good luck to you all.
Kerri Turley, Shannon McKeever, Ciara McEvoy , Demi Donnelly, Emma Coleman, Carly Kine, Shauneen Coleman and Beahan Doran, Tori McGlade, Shanice Heany and Chloe Mc Donald.
To join Kerri Turley’s Hip-Hop class please look in the Lurgan Mail next week for class times.
Right to reply: A spokesperson for the organisers said: “If you cannot accept decisions then you shouldn’t enter competitions. We provide a platform for people to enter competitions and all judging is done with honesty.”
