'Flash Harry' is the band's name
FROM:- John Cleland (founder member of Flash Harry).
Your paper printed a story about the second meeting trying to co-opt a new member onto the council.
In the article it was mentioned that a name was put forward by the UUP, William Henry Hamilton, also known as Flash Harry.
The story should have read "Harry Hamilton" or the singer in the band Flash Harry. I would like to put a lid on the misconception before it gets out of hand.
Flash Harry is the name of the band of which there are five performing members and several crew. The name Flash Harry should be taken in the same context as Lynard Skynard, Frans Ferdinand and Krafty Jack.
It doesn't refer to one individual band member.
It is easy for people to refer to Harry as Flash Harry, but it is important that the name Flash Harry is taken in the context that it is a band and not one person.
Not all band members, crew and their families have a political opinion, but they are from both sides of the community.
Would it be possible to bear this in mind if another story arises regarding William Henry Hamilton, singer in the band Flash Harry or Harry Hamilton?
The misconception of the facts are hurtful and has caused offence, (not that it requires an apology, just taking note will be enough). May I point out that the band, crew and families are behind Harry Hamilton's decision to enter politics, but are not part of his decision to do so. I hope this clears up the misconception.
