Kristen Kavanagh, 18, will make the trip to Orlando in July following success closer to home.

Kristen told the Carrick Times: “I qualified for the Miss Teen Galaxy Ireland title in October in Dublin. I will now go on to compete for the Miss Teen Galaxy International title in Orlando in just under nine weeks.”

The big event is being held in the Caribe Royale Hotel.

“I am so excited and hope to make all of Ireland proud,” added Kristen.

Kristen attended Northern Regional College and having just completed level 3 beauty therapy, she now has a job at Simply Salon & Spa in Carrickfergus.

She continued: “My interests are working in the spa, going to the gym, makeup artistry and volunteering for local charities.

“I am currently supporting the Assisi Animal Sanctuary charity. I feel like this charity is a very important one and needs to be recognised by everyone as animal cruelty is just getting too common nowadays.”

The independent animal welfare charity provides shelter for up to 200 companion animals - cats, dogs and rabbits.
