Carrickfergus THI (Townscape Heritage Initiative) project manager Frank McGrogan will take part in a study visit to historic towns and sites in north Wales between March 27 and 29.

The trip is organised and funded by the Irish Walled Towns Network (IWTN) based in Kilkenny of which Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is a member.

The Townscape Heritage Initiative is a five-year regeneration scheme for Carrickfergus town centre co-funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The total investment in properties funded under the THI scheme is anticipated to be around £4m.

The THI scheme offers a grant fund of £2.4m to the owners or tenants of eligible properties to refurbish their buildings. The HLF has agreed that 30 priority properties and 17 reserve properties are eligible.
