Around 2,500 homes in Mid and East Antrim Borough who currently do not have brown bins are now joining a pilot scheme for the collection of separate food waste.

The scheme, supported by the Rethink Waste initiative, started this week with those households involved receiving information and new caddies for the collection of food waste.”

Recycling statistics for food waste in the UK show that households could save up to £60 per month simply by reducing food waste.
