Appeal for information after Carrick robbery

Detectives are appealing for information following a robbery that occurred in the High Street area of Carrickfergus this morning (Monday).

At approximately 7.45am, a male entered a shop and demanded money and cigarettes from a female worker.

He made off with a sum of money and headed up North Street through the subway at the train station and into the direction of the Sunnylands estate on a black bicycle.

The male is described as being approximately 5’8” tall, of slight build and was wearing a green scarf over his face, a black woollen hat and gloves and a grey tracksuit.

He was carrying a large hiking type black rucksack.

Detective Sergeant Crothers said: “I would ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact Larne Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 187 of 24/10/16.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
