Alarm over laser pens in Carrick

A spokesperson for PSNI Carrickfergus said: “We have received some very concerning reports of youths shining laser pens towards motorists in the Carrickfergus area.

“This is an extremely dangerous practice that could result in serious injury or death. It is no exaggeration to state that.

If a driver is blinded or disorientated even for a split second, an accident can easily occur.

“Let’s not read about a young person, ‘who never meant for that to happen’ as we add another person to the 2017 road death tally.

“If you are involved, wise up while you have the chance.”
