Cookstown teenager who stole iPhone sent to young offenders centre

A Cookstown teen has been imprisoned for two months after admitting to stealing an iPhone from a shop.

David Mark Cunningham, 18, is a serving prisoner at Hydebank Young Offenders’ Centre.

The court heard how he was arrested after being caught on CCTV stealing a phone worth £535 on the afternoon of November 21.

His solicitor said that the offence was one of an “avalanche” of which he had been convicted in 2015.

District Judge John Meehan ordered that the two month sentence run consecutively to his current imprisonment.
