Reduction in speed limit along Carrick road

A speed limit reduction is to be implemented along a section of the B90 road in Carrickfergus.

It follows a review by the Department of Infrastructure and the PSNI last year, which took in the route between Monkstown Road and the B149 Beltoy Road.

“The review indicated that given increasing number of residential development and traffic volumes around Greenisland, a revision of the speed limits, which vary between 60mph and 30mph along the B90 at Greenisland, would better reflect the function of the road,” a spokesperson for the Department said.

“This matter was subject to public consultation and as a result, a 40mph limit to the west of Greenisland to include the Monkstown Road junction, and an extension of the existing 40mph limit to the east of the village to the existing 30mph limit at Woodburn Road, is due to begin shortly.

“The revisions will also include the unrestricted section of Trooperslane Road.”
