Loren sets the Northern Ireland standard in contemporary craft

Downshire School student Loren McCullough attended the Celebrate with CCEA Top Achievers Award Ceremony held in Titanic Belfast.

This rewards pupils from across the province who have achieved first place in GCSE, AS and A2 in a range of subjects.

Loren was awarded first place for GCSE Contemporary Craft. This is a new subject offered by CCEA bringing together the world of craft design and business.

Loren excelled in textiles producing a wide variety of work created to a very high standard.

Not only did she gain first place in Northern Ireland but school colleagues Megan Barnes and Bethany Taggart gained second and third place, respectively.

Loren was accompanied by her family, principal Jacqueline Stewart and her contemporary craft teacher Mrs N Redmond, all of whom were “incredibly proud of her outstanding achievement”.

She was presented with a hand crafted glass trophy on the replica Titanic grand staircase.
