A new branch of Poundstretcher will open at Carrick’s DeCourcy Centre on Friday with the creation of 12 new jobs.

Performing the honours will be Mid and East Antrim Borough Mayor, Cllr Audrey Wales MBE.

Previously, the chain store had an outlet at High Street in the town centre.

Poundstretcher says that it offers its customers “big brand names at low and affordable prices, and houses a variety of products including grocery items, garden and homewares, health and beauty products, and even toys and games”.

In addition to the main Poundstretcher shop, the site will also house Pet Hut, Poundstretcher’s sister store which is currently the United Kingdom’s only retailer specialising in discounted pet goods.

Area manager, Elaine Watson said: “The newest store in Carrick is the first to open in two and a half years, and will replace a smaller Poundstretcher site. It is much bigger than its predecessor and will increase local interest.”
