Councillor’s Alan Carlisle, Luke Poots and Lisburn Mayor Andrew Ewing recently returned from the eighteenth conference on ‘suicidology’ in Westport.

During the two day conference the Lisburn delegation were given an insight into how the suicide rate has spiralled in recent years.

“In 2013 there were 303 registered suicides in Northern Ireland,” said Mr Carlisle.

He said that increased awareness of warning signs, was important. “This increased awareness should help equip individuals with the knowledge needed.”
