Assembly election 2016: UUP’s Roy Beggs retains East Antrim seat

Roy Beggs (UUP) has retained his seat at Stormont after what he described as a “gruelling” election campaign.

The result marks Mr Beggs’ fifth stint as an MLA for East Antrim, and he said he looked forward to representing residents in the constituency once again.

““I am very pleased with the result and I want to thank the people of East Antrim for putting their confidence in me again,” he added.

“I also want to my sincere thanks to those who assisted in what was a gruelling campaign, with a lot of miles walked and many conversations enetered into.”
