Armed Forces Day celebrations are set to return to Carrickfergus during national Armed Forces Day, Saturday June 28.

The popular event, supported by the Ministry of Defence, will feature interactive military displays, a visit by HMS Charger, helicopters and a range of family-friendly entertainment.

Eagerly awaiting the event was Mayor of Carrickfergus Borough Council, Alderman Charlie Johnston.

“I am delighted that Armed Forces Day is returning to Carrickfergus in 2014,” he said.

“Carrickfergus has become synonymous with staging this prolific event which has firmly established itself on our annual calendar of events.

“As a garrison town and with the symbolic and magnificent backdrop of Carrickfergus Castle, it is definitely an event not to be missed.”
