Final play of summer theatre season

THE Lambeg Players round off this year's summer theatre season with a fantastic Sam Cree comedy.

The group present ‘Family Fever’ by Sam Cree in Portrush Town Hall from August 25 to 28 nightly at 8pm.

It’s Christmas time in the Galbraith family household somewhere in Belfast in the 1950’s.

Alec and Sadie Galbraith are awaiting the arrival of their first grandchild by their daughter Myra, whilst meeting Archie, their other daughter Linda’s rather revolutionary new boyfriend for the first time.

Alec has been confined to the house by Sadie to look after “mother to be” Myra, while Sadie is Christmas shopping, and he sets about catching a very illusive mouse in the kitchen.

Sadie’s neighbour and best friend Emily Beattie, and her not so bright husband Willy, add to the comedy in a series of misunderstandings, including the sudden arrival of “a baby” in the household, as well as a dispute regarding the moral intentions of the milkman.

Mrs. Hall and her henpecked husband Patrick appear from Ballymena to greet the new baby, and to welcome their son Dennis back from serving with the forces in the Far East.

Sadie’s rather substantial cousin Maud arrives on the scene, and suitably lubricated, she displays an outpouring of affection towards Alec.

The play culminates on New Year’s Eve with all the characters combining to create mayhem and confusion, with hilarious consequences.
