Hallowe'en murder suspect arrested

A MAN has been arrested in Carrick by police investigating the murder of a pensioner in Belfast 21 years ago.
Detectives from the PSNI's Serious Crime Branch are carrying out new inquiries into the death of 80-year-old Annabella Symington.

She was found strangled in her home at Willesden Park in the Stranmillis area of south Belfast on 31 October 1989.

The 58-year-old suspect was arrested in Carrick on Tuesday morning and taken to the serious crime suite at Antrim police station for questioning.

Police are renewing their appeal for information about the murder which happened on Hallowe'en night 1989.
