Having finally mastered the art of driving at the age 69, Masie Crawford, has now turned her hand to oil painting for the first time - at the age of 73.

In fact, the Waterside pensioner is to host her first art exhibition.

The one-night-only event will take place on Monday, October 27, at 7.30pm in Hillcrest House.

Masie has painted 20 canvases for the one-woman show as part of her therapy through the Pink Ladies, a support and campaign group which supports those diagnosed with breast cancer.

The plucky septuagenarian has created a mini studio in the dinette of her Nelson Drive home, which has become a retreat where she can switch off and not think about health issues.

Asked about the exhibition she said: “I am getting excited about it now. I enjoy it because you can shut off.”
